Life at the pond goes on whether anyone is there to see it or not. It changes almost from second to second and unless you live at the pond, you miss so much. Yesterday, shortly before sunset, I went down to the pond. The last of the golden hour was superb. I took many pictures, but this was my favorite. I am drawn to this place more than anywhere else. I was down at the pond the other day sitting peacefully on a shaded bench being mesmerized by the calmness of the water and taking in the beauty of the last lotus of the season, when suddenly a ripple started in the center of the pond and made its way to where I was. I’m going out “on the hunt” in the morning by myself. I think I need some time alone. I found sort of a new place to explore. Actually, I've been there before, but I didn't look around for long. Saturday they forecast that during the night it would drop down to the low 60s and the humidity would clear out…Sunday morning was going to be perfect. I kept thinking all day and before I went to bed Saturday night…."I’m going to be out there in that tomorrow morning somewhere, somehow!”

I watch the lotus begin their decadent decay as the last few hold on to their exquisite beauty and the pads start to transform slowly giving me the illusion of a pond filled with spiders . . . ( here )

I saw this single fallen petal of the pink lotus in the pond today. It reminded me of a graceful and flowing pink bird gently dipping its beak in the water.
